BLENHEIM ORANGE has fruit that is large to very large, yellow, more or less washed and striped with red, attractive in appearance and of excellent dessert quality. Originated in Woodstock, Oxfordshire,England. Found in the London nurseries about 1818. Tree is large vigorous, productive, upright spreading. Ripens in September. It is a beautiful apple that originated about 1740. There are many strains. It is a dual-purpose triploid apple with vigorous growth that requires a dwarfing rootstock for restricted space or form. It is a partial tip-bearer and fairly resistant to mildew. The trees bear shyly when young but improve with age. It is widely available in England.
